An Opportunity for your Student Leaders!

LuMin Network’s presence at the ELCA Youth Gathering will involve framing walls for three houses.  The wall sections will be used by local relief agencies as they work to meet the housing needs of Houston residents.

Houston is the fourth ELCA Youth Gathering where campus ministry has offered this kind of project.  Through them, we’ve demonstrated campus ministry’s commitment to meaningful service for the host community and campus ministry’s ability to challenge youth to see the needs of our neighbors.

Campus ministry staff are planning and guiding the project. However, the face of campus ministry most seen by the high school youth who will participate are twelve college student leaders who will work alongside them.  These students are currently involved in our campus ministries. We need your help to identify these leaders and encourage them to apply.

Students’ transportation, housing and meals will be covered.  College students are expected to arrive on Monday, June 25, 2018 for two days of orientation and preparation.  They’ll stay together in a nearby youth hostel until Sunday, July 1.  Funding for student leadership is being provided by Lutheran Student Movement-USA.  You’ll find a link below for a complete list of Expectations.

The online application deadline is April 1, 2018.  Note: the application is not complete until a letter of recommendation is submitted by each applicant’s campus ministry staff.  We are eager for high school youth to learn about campus ministry at the Youth Gathering.  There is no better way for them to do that than to allow them to meet students from your ministry site.

Look over the materials.  Contact us if you have questions.  The application deadline is April 1, 2018.
